Finding Balance: Insights from an Empath’s Journey

Daily writing prompt
What is the last thing you learned?

Some lessons are rooted so deep within. They become a waking reminder to do better and to be better. All of us can feel and understand emotions. However, some have the privilege of being an empath. It means feeling deeply and understanding others’ emotions.
We absorb the feelings of those around you. Understand the perception, the reason behind the surge of emotions and actions.
Such empathy is rare. One of a kind. Hard to find and even harder to contain.
It overwhelms us, drains us of emotions. At times, we (as empaths) lose the balance. We lose the essence that guides us to the shore, guiding us out of the chaos.
The last thing I learned from life is that sometimes the strong ones need to go weak for a moment or two.
And to retain and maintain the balance and peace we possess as empaths, we need
to leave and let go of things, people and circumstances that do not align with our peace.

There is control in the act of letting go.

Sometimes,
The giver needs to be the taker too.
The healer needs healing too.
The listener needs to be heard too.
The responsible needs to be rebel too.
The mature needs to be a child too.

We all need help.
We all need all,
To survive. To thrive.

Above all this, we need to remember and celebrate the simple truth that we are alive and thriving. That we all are empaths in our own ways. We need the ‘help’ as much as the person next to us. That there is absolutely no shame in addressing or seeking the help.
Fixing ourselves to be a better partner, better parent or child, better friend would probably be the best way of loving the people around us.
Taking care of ourselves first, for them is the highest form of love.
